Help setting up USB Sound with vox

Hi I’m new and got stuck setting up the node

Hardware :

-Rapberry Pi 4

Cheap USB Sound Card
Baofeng UV5
Easy Digi KF5INZ

I guess my node is set up , I can see the green on the nodes list.

Problem , I do not need the cos or ptt thing or modify a usb sound , is it possible just to configure the vox to handle the PTT .

I know all the pros and cons about using the VOX, but for now that’s all what I need

when running simpleusb-tune-menu :

Active simpleusb device stanza : [USB]

but then I get a message " Device usb currently not active"

I am not sure what you mean by “cheap usb sound card”

You need a USB audio sound fob with a specific chip that is supported by app_rpt.

It needs to be one of the following CM108, CM119 or CM119B ’

Look for USB sound fobs with one of these chips.

Cesar,

The particular setup appears to use the GPIO pin 12 on the Pi board for PTT, I don’t think app_rpt software supports using the Pi GPIO pins for PTT.

Generally from what I understand, the app_rpt software uses a GPIO pin on the USB sound fob.

The diagram you provided appears to be for some other software platform which supports using the Pi GPIO pin for PTT such as the Svxlink or OpenRepeater project.

Check out the following USB sound fobs that will work.

Ok hope some one can help me…
Now I got the sound FOB , seems to be working fine.

With the easy digi vox by kf5inz

I guess node is up

If I type RPT FUN 51024 *81

I’m getting the time on my other radio , so the vox part is working and is ptt’in the radio.

My problem now is that when I use the other radio seems like the audio in its not going trough.

I hooked an speaker to check if the *81 send from the radio is going trough the easy digi and it does , but i have no response fron the computer back

Any Idea

I realize this is an old thread…I also have an easy-digi/UV5R, 2 actually, one set up for vox, and one PTT over DTR/RTS.

Did you get this to work, and if so, how?
