Problems using Mpow 071 headset with ASL3

I used the previous version of AllStar as a radioless node with an Mpow 071 headset, as suggested by AI3I here. I have not got it working with ASL3 so far, but have made some progress: At first, I couldn’t “see” the headset from within Interface Tune CLI. (E.g., when running item 2, I got “Device 58061 is selected, the associated USB device string was not found.”) But when I ran lsusb, the headset appeared as “ID 0d8c:0014 C-Media Electronics, Inc. Audio Adapter (Unitek Y-247A).” I found this page, and followed the instructions (placing “usb_devices = 0d8c:0014” in /etc/asterisk/res_usbradio.conf.

The Interface Tune CLI now “sees” the headset. But the volume control PTT hack mentioned by AI3I does not work. I also notice these anomalies using the Interface Tune CLI: options B,C,D,E,G,H,P, and T do not work at all – the Interface Tune CLI just reappears. Option S produces this message: “SimpleUSB tuning CLI did not launch. Try restarting Asterisk.” I did so, but it did not make any difference.

Option V yields this:

Receiver/Transmitter Status Display:
COS | CTCSS | COS | PTT
Input | Input | Out | Out

Context: Rpi Model B 3 (1GB memory; 8GB sdhc). Configured as SimpleUSB; Duplex mode 3; Carrier From: usbinvert.

Can anyone suggest what I might do to get the Mpow 071 headset working?

Did you follow the instructions in this post?

I did not. I never thought of scrolling down. Thank you!
