I can listen, but not transmit

Hello everyone. I am currently having issues setting up an ASL node. I purchased a node off of Amazon, and I have got it to the point where I can listen to traffic and connect to nodes, but my node will not receive from my radio. I cannot figure out why. I am running a computer with Debian 13. I dont know if there is a setting that I have overlooked or what. My buddy has the same node and got his to work, but of course he doesnt remember what he did. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for your time. I am usually pretty tech savvy, but for some reason this is just baffling me.

without knowing exactly what model knock off you bought from amazon gonna be hard for anyone to move you in the right direction.

There's not a lot of documentation from this vendor about what specific settings are needed. Their web site has a "Contact us" page where you can/should ask for help.

You can also share your simpleusb.conf settings here. Maybe someone who has one of these devices will see a difference between their working configuration and yours.

additionally, the USB-C cable one way up allows for SA818 programming, and then flip the cable connection for ASL3 operation

let us know if that was enough breadcrumbs for you to follow the trail...

So that cc device programs the SA818 just like Marshall's HS Radios devices?

Thanks for the information everyone. I got it to work. I have no idea how, other than I changed the right combination of settings. It doesn’t make sense, but my friend and I tested it. I was able to connect to a local repeater and we talked. I know I changed a CTCSS setting, and then changed the PTT setting. When it didn’t work properly I changed the PTT back and then it started working. Thanks for everything.
