XPR8300 Repeater

Has anyone successfully connected and used a Motorola XPR8300 repeater with both Allstar and DMR? We would like to install one that will do both.

Eric,

A quick answer is, yes it can be done. The question is what you are

trying to do. A XPR8300 can be connected to a URI just like any
other Analog repeater. All the signals you need are on the 26 pin
connector. In that configuration, with the repeater configured in
Dynamic Mixed Mode (an option available for purchase from Motorola)
DMR traffic would be repeated locally and analog traffic would go to
AllStarLink. The problem with Dynamic Mixed Mode is that IP site
connect is not available for DMR. This means no DMR networking,
local DMR repeat only.

If you want to connect the XPR8300 in DMR mode to one of the DMR

networks, DMR-MARC, DCI, or BrandMeister AND AllStarLink, there is
another way. You can run a “bridge” between the XPR8300 in DMR mode
and AllStarLink. There is a discussion group dedicated to that type
of bridging at 73, Steve N4IRS
