Wifi and/or Ethernet?

Hi Guy’s,
I setup my SHARI / Raspberry Pi3 / AllStarLink3 node several months ago in my shack using a direct ethernet link to my home network, and all works fine.
Thinking ahead to next year when I am touring in our camper van, I want to take the node with me and use wifi to link the node to the personal hotspot on my iPhone.
What is the best way to achieve this? Should I create a whole new SD card img just for the iPhone / wifi setup or can I just edit the wlan0 settings in my existing setup so it will look for the iPhone personal hotspot when not connected via ethernet?
Thanks.

Simply add the Wi-Fi info for the iPhone hotspot but don’t turn it on until needed. Here’s two things that aren’t commonly known: iPhone needs its WiFi app open to connect the client node. Also do not set static ip on the RJ-45 port, otherwise Wi-Fi won’t work on the iPhone

A couple of things to consider obtaining a public IP address and provide port forwarding. This is true with AT&T, each time you connect to the mobile network, a new public IP address is assigned, which means your node must reregister (takes time). Also, my iPhone doesn’t accommodate port forwarding; suggest a portable router connected to your phone via wireless.
