Using a node with 4G internet conection

Hi I am using a Pi node connected through a 4G internet connection and not sure if that is my problem.
I try to connect to a person and panel comes up red with there call but said connecting but doesn’t say connected it shower up as connected in the bubble and the person the other end doesn’t see me connected to them is this as good as it gets or have i still got problems.

we call that the red line of death. We have the same problem on some of our nodes no idea what the problem is to this day. The other person will not see your node connected to theirs because it is not connected yet because is trying to connect.

Please don’t post the results of the following command without “munging” the password information, but does:

grep “^register=” /etc/asterisk/iax.conf

contain correct information?

Thanks dwarnok for the reply I dont understand where do I put that.

Hi dwarmok The register has got the correct information in it with the pass word from Allstar but will not connect properly.

Hi I am using a VX-420-G2h wireless modem I have tried Vodaphone and Aldii which is Telstra and Optus I have a friend that has a wireless modem and can connect out but outsiders cant connect to him they all wont connect on supermon i get a red box trying to concerti do know that some people are using wireless Internet and they are able to connect anyone got any clue if it is the modem settings or provider i have opened the ports 4569 and 5038.and a port scan on the pi said port 4569 and 5038 open Thanks for reading this seems to be a game stopper for many people. I have tried to change the ports I changed the Binding port from 4569 to 50003 and at Allstar my server port to 50003 they are open i use them for Icom but still no go.

Typically no services needing inbound connections will work behind a cellular connection because you can’t port forward to your device, your node in this case.

The solution is twofold.

  1. Use an RTCM to interface to your node’s radio. They phone home to your node off site. No port forwarding necessary.
  2. You need some sort of a VPN to be able to telnet to the RTCM on occasion. I’ve found ZeroTier an excellent and easy to use solution. I run ZeroTier on a MikroTik router at the site.

Thanks for the reply I borrowed friends Image for a Pi and it worked fine into his node number at allstar so its not my internet end is it possible there is something wrong with my allstar connection.
I started from scratch and made a new SD card and set it up to the book but still wont connect. anyone. any ideas ??

I have 5 server settings don’t know how to remove them i only need one i set all but 1 to port 4569 thinking it might get confused I’m getting desperate…

Up date I have 5 servers and dont know why I just dicovered you select which one the node looks for and it was set looking at the wrong one they were all set with my call sign so didnt know that now it works but will now look to see how to remove the spare servers or at lease rename them.
