Turn off dis/connect messages but not coutesy tones?

Hello, very thanks for your quickly resolutions,

I would like to switch off all connect/disconnect messages (anouncements). I have

telemdefault=2

echolinkdefault=2.

For echolink that work, there are no messages, but for linking from/to other allstar nodes or for linking from allstar webtranceiver there are all messages online.

If I set

telemdefault=0

all messages are off but also all courtesy tones.

Is it possible to switch off the dis/connect messages but not coutesy tones?

A other solution for my problem could be a shorter dis/connect message. In the moment I hear “DL7VTS connected to node 91246” or “node 12345 connected to node 91246” (in phonetic). Is it possible to use only “DL7VTS connected”. This is half off the audio traffic, has the same information and is more usefull?

eannmode=0 is only for echolink and has not this function! I think it is to change in the sources but I need a tip (filename …)

Thanks for help

Sorry, there are any mistakes in my first posting here is the corrected posting:

I checked the source and there are no comments on the telemetry default (telemdefault) setting nor does there seem to be any specific info page on that command at ohnosec.org
Perhaps a developer could comment?
Did you look at the ‘holdofftelem’ command?
http://ohnosec.org/drupal/node/110
There is also ‘telemdynamic’ which I can’t seem to find info on either. Comprehensive documentation on the telemetry commands seems to be lacking. I guess we are expected to snake through the source and figure it out!

It means that when you issue a link command, for example *32000, the connect message will play back to you. Then, for a short while, like 30 or 60 seconds, you will here any dis/connects even if you did not initiate them. After the 30-60 second timer times expires you will not hear any more dis/connects until you initiate another link command.

Tim, is there an implementation for ‘duck’ for Acid?
I think this is what Doug is looking for. For others who may not know, ‘duck’ is used in xaiper, and the
telemetry voice ‘ducks’ under the audio of the repeater user, by
dropping the telemetry voice level by half (or as defined).
So, does such a thing exist for Acid?

Since I was the person who requested and defined the operation of
this function, I feel the need to provide a proper explanation.
This feature was officially added to XIPAR on March 30, 2011.
Here is the email with the explanation of its operation:
This was ported to node 27258 and tested for about a week. I use
the the following parameters:
telemnomdb=-10 ; Telemetry Nominal Amplitude reference
in dB
telemduckdb=-15 ; Telemetry Ducking in dB when local or
link voice tx in progress
My setting are aggressive, but the ability is there to set these the

Kevin,
Thanks for calling. I'm glad I got your input to add the setting for the
nominal, non-busy channel announce volume in addition to the busy
channel announce volume.
With the new software, the following values can be entered for a
repeater context in /etc/asterisk/rpt.conf.
telemnomdb = Telemetry Nominal dB volume adjustment. This is the number
of dB to adjust the telemetry volume when the channel is not keyed by a
local or remote received signal.
Example: telemnomdb=-3
Default: telemnomdb=0
telemduckdb = Telemetry Duck dB volume adjustment. This is the number of
dB to adjust the telemetry volume when the channel is keyed by a local
or remote received signal.
Example: telemduckdb=-10
Default: telemduckdb=0
I'm ready to load this on a test repeater whenever you have one ready.
After good results, I'll make this change to the install sources.
I'll also have the update script handle the case of locally modified
sources a little better.

Yup - I knew her name was Allison Smith, and she said in an

I’d rather have Allison, though… than that typical ‘Bahston’

Xipar not only ducks but has a telemetry amplitude reference in db’s

telemnomdb=-10 ; in this case negetive -10 dB no need for the gaindown script.

telemetry ducking is adjustable too.
telemduckdb=0 ; Telemetry Ducking in dB when local or link voice tx in progress

Thank you to those responsible for acid and xipar. I use both and , but don’t intend

to loose site of who’s hosting the server for either distro.

Did you try removing or renaming the sound directory to eliminate the audio response? It’s probably lame considering telemdefault=2 works well enough.

I have been experimenting with the app_rpt.c code and have come up with a change that seems to work at shortening some of the connect messages. During a connect message there are 2 node numbers that get played. If either one of those node numbers is the number of this system then with my change it will not get played. I did a diff and included it in an attachment to this email. Maybe with a little more work this could be a configurable option rather than a compile time option. I had fun learning while I was working on this. No guarantees that I did this correctly but it has been running on my systems for several hours now and it has not crashed yet. Try it at your own risk. Your mileage may vary.

Thanks for help, Thomas, DL7VTS
