Trying to install the latest raspberry image of asl 3 on a raspberry pi 4b

I just got a brand new raspberry pi 4b and when I try to install the latest asl3 image upon boot up I get a message needs new software and the firmware is out of date. I have loaded the latest firmware and bootloader to the 4b by loading a standard raspberry pi 12 debian image then force updating the firmware and bootloader. Can someone help. I am not an expert on this. What do i need to do to get the ASL 3 image to load?

When you say “I get a message… firmware is out of date” what do you mean by this? The ASL3 image on boot if you have a screen on the Pi should just end up on a standard Debian 12 logon console window. It sounds like your writing out of the ASL3 image onto an SD card maybe didn’t work right?

Also, are you starting with a Debian 12 image? or the ASL3 Raspberry Pi Appliance image (following the instructions @ Raspberry Pi Install) ?

This might be helpful, I have just installed ASL3 on a raspberry pi 4
