Tinny tx audio from Motorola

I have a Motorola CDM 1500 LS connected to a R1-2023 interface. The one remaining issue is my audio from my HT received from parrot sounds very tinny. It’s great for communications grade use, but noticeably less quality than my SA818 device. The Motorola has magnitudes better range from the same outdoor antenna.

Transmitted telemetry still sounds good. But my HT tx audio returned from parrot is higher pitched.

So where do I look to improve audio fidelity? The two things different from my SA818 device are Motorola and the R1-2023 interface. I’d think the R1 has a reputation and probably isn’t at fault. And I turned off emphasis in the Motorola. How do I determine where the issue is? Does SimpleUSB have audio response settings?

I need to find an online forum for Motorola use by hams. This is probably not the best forum for brand specific hardware issues.

Try flipping your deemphasis/preemphasis setting in SimpleUSB

If the port is set to flat, which it should be, enable pre-emphasis and de-emphasis in simpleusb or usbradio, which ever channel driver you are using.
Pre-emphasis affects audio transmitted by your node. De-emphasis affects received audio.
The CDM’s discriminator, when properly compensated for, sounds quite nice.
I have used a Motorola SM50 (similar) with that interface. There are definitely better URIs around than that one, but I got reasonable audio out of it for the short time I used it with that radio. I ended up using a RIM from Repeater Builder instead.
