I am experiencing a strange issue with a new AllstarLink setup. I have a Baofeng AR-5RM radio connected to a computer with a Digirig Mobile USB audio device. I am running it as a simplex node and using another Baofeng AR-5RM as the radio that I’ll be using. I have it working most of the way but ran into one issue I can’t get past.
When I key up on my radio, everything appears to be working correctly. I can pull up the Asterisk CLI and enter DTMF tones and it detects them correctly. So as far as I can tell, transmit from my radio to the one connected to the Allstar node is working properly.
The issue I’m having is with received audio on my radio (transmitted from the Allstar node radio). If I choose option F (Flash - Toggle PTT and Tone output several times) in the simpleusb-tune-menu, I hear the transmitted tones clearly. Same thing if I use option T (Toggle Transmit Test Tone/Keying) and then choose options 3 or 4 to set the Transmit level. I hear the tones clearly. I can’t get any sort of other audio from AllStarLink. If I use DTMF to attempt to connect to a node, I hear nothing. From the Asterisk CLI, it appears that it is supposed to be making some announcements during the connection process.
I cannot figure out what would cause me to hear some things but not others. I have tried both options for half-duplex. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
