Six Digit Conversion

Is the switch from 5-digit node numbers to a 6 digit one a simple matter of going into your node setting and add the zero on the end of the existing 5-digit, does something else have to happen, or is this administrator controlled?

What files have to be change in the local setup? I think rpt.conf. extension.conf and iax.conf; are there others?

JD,

If you log into your AllstarLink.org account and in node setting there is an option convert a node or multiple based on how many you can select.

Press Continue to:

  • Request a new node number from AllStarLink.
  • Extend a node number up to 10 nodes.
  • Delete a node number.

Tnx Russell – are the files to change rpt.conf, extension. conf and iax.conf? Any others?

Yes, there are changes to the config files. There is a howto here https://wiki.allstarlink.org/wiki/NNX.

JD,

For the NNX number upgrade you can run items 1 and 2 on the ASL menu and update the the node number information and registration password.

If you already have a node number that was 5 digit you can manually update the following files in this directory /etc/asterisk/.

rpt.conf
extensions.conf
iax.conf
simpleusb.conf (whatever channel driver you are using)

You will need to change the node number from XXXXX to XXXXXY in these
four files.

You may also have the edit the registration statements and passwords as well.

Restart asterisk.

You can use a search and replace to find and update the node number.

thanks Marshal. Done, now six digits

Other question. Is the new version of Allstar still in testing or has been released to production and I missed the announcement. I’ve been holding back on acquiring a RaPI-4 since the new version looked immenint amd the current version of Allstar version won’t play on it

JD,

I wish that I had better news to report.

The development has died down with new Pi image version of Allstarlink that was being tested and worked on.

The folks that were working on it have been pretty quiet over the past few months, so I am not sure if anything is being done currently for the new release.

There are several updates that have been made to Allstarlink software and there is a pre-release of ASL 1.02 on github.

You can still use the latest pre-release of ASL 1.02 to compile your own software, but there are no pre-made images yet.

NOTE: About the Raspberry Pi-4. Although this is a great piece of hardware and will be great for running a single USB on a Pi-4 Allstarlink node.

There remains a MAJOR problem with the Pi 4 Linux Kernel and not the app_rpt code. This causes issues when you use more than one USB sound fob with the Raspberry Pi-4 board.

This issue seems to be bug in the Raspbian OS USB driver code for the Pi 4 hardware only. Other boards such as the Pi-3b+ seem to work.
