Novice here. Has anyone used a SignaLink USB for the interface between the radio and the computer? If you did, what did you have to do? 2020-04-05T04:00:00Z
The SignalLink hardware is not supported by ASL software. You need to find a usb sound fob that has specific chip set in it.

CM119A
CM119B
There are several vendors that make compatible usb sound radio interfaces for Allstarlink.

Or
Masters Communications- http://www.masterscommunications.com/
Or you can build your own.

a friend told me that he uses the URI
(universal radio interface). Is this one good and where does one
find it? What’s the Allstar preferred?

Both the URI and the Master Communications are good units.
You can find both of these at that following websites.

I’ve had good luck with these. $50 Plus $5 Shipping, comes with the USB cable and a DE-9 connector. http://www.repeater-builder.com/products/usb-rim-lite.html
I ordered 2 of these, and I think the shipping was still only $5. I just setup a simple VHF and a UHF node. Both of the radios had 6 pin mini din jacks on them. https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-6-Feet-MDIN-6-Cable-100092/dp/B001TKQOTG/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=6+pin+din+cable&qid=1586180373&sr=8-5
Cut that in half and you have two radio cables for $5.
I don’t understand why ASl cannot support SignalLink? It essentially function the same as those DRA dongles.
STARTECH Mod by WA2KJC.pdf (2.2 MB)
I use the Star Tech usb sound card and modify it.
