SD card issue with ASL3

I have build quite a lot of allstar node for our club and have noticed that some micro sd cards had an issue on asl3 platform. It wont boot at all. Ending up running Hamvoip just not to waste that storage card. Tried cloning from a working same size sd card using win32 disk imager but failed. Still wont boot. I know i bought not the most expensive sd card but not the cheapest available in the local market either.

Anyone had the same issue? Or any remedy to this?

Thanks.

... and you are trying to install ASL3 to a Raspberry Pi 3, 4, 5, ...?

... and were you following the ASL3 Manual / ASL3 Appliance installation instructions ?

... and what was the size of the SD card?

pi 3, 32gb (tried 16gb as well). And yeah I followed the asl3 manual instructions as my nodes and others nodes created are all running in asl3.

Sounds like you just bought low quality sdcards. Cost isn't how you determine the quality of the sdcard, you should have done that with brand size and quality.

yeah, I guess so. So it will be a "when everything else fails with asl3, there is still hamvoip." thingy.

I've never had a MicroSD card not boot after writing an ASL image, and I've probably written 50 of them at least. I have had a few fail while in service, including theoretically reputable brands like Sandisk and Samsung. I trust any MicroSD card about as far as I can throw it... No, wait, that's not a good analogy for as small and light as they are.

My guess is you got a counterfeit SD card. They look like say 32 GB, you can write 32 GB to it but it only holds 4 or 8 GB. Did you get it on Amazon? Was Amazon the seller? The counterfeit cards are a perfect match for the real thing.
