REMOTE login issues with putty

Hello All

I have been tryng to login in from remote to my Centos box with no luck using putty. I can

login in on the keyboard with no problems.I have reinstalled and reburned serveral CD

with no luck.I get the login prompt and use root and the password I used for keyboard ( KEYBOARD IS FINE )

access but it gives me ACCESS DENIED everytime from remote.

Any help would be appreciated. I know the port routing is correct since I am getting the connect and login prompt.

Are you using port 222 or are you using the incorrect port of 22?

Hi Jim,

** I have been trying to work with Juan. He is using the right port number of 222. He gets the login fine.**

It just will not take a remote connect.

Are you trying to log in as root and failing?

Look in the SSH configuration.

There is a parameter to specifically allow /disallow root login via SSH.
