I'm hoping to help one of my clubs bring AllStar & Echolink to a repeater which is located where there's no hope of bringing an internet connection. The Server is recognized by AllStarLink. The radio is full quieting into the repeater on LOW (25W) and on receive from the repeater at my location. Using RepeaterPhone (iOS) I can connect to the node and be heard over RF from the repeater. I do not hear audio back to RepeaterPhone on my iPhone. The 2M repeater in use has a standard split and uses CTCSS on Tx/Rx. The DINAH is in default mode; no traces were cut. The radio is set to use 1200bd. The firewall on the RPi does not block any outgoing traffic, neither does my router/security appliance from the relevant ip address. Why no audio out over AllStar.
I've built a node using the ASL3 appliance, a DINAH, and a Kenwood TM-271A modified as per http://n1vg.net/. I have modified and used four of these Kenwood radios and am presently using one other for a WinLink VHF Gateway with a MastersCommunication DRA. Others have had other purposes, but are now in a bin waiting their turn at glory.
Here's the audio CLI as it stands. The 20*20=400msec "RX On Delay" was necessary to stop ping-ponging:
- Select active USB device
- Set Rx Voice Level using display (currently '500')
- Set Transmit A Level (currently '500')
- Set Transmit B Level (currently '500')
B) Toggle RX Boost (currently 'enabled')
C) Toggle Pre-emphasis (currently 'disabled')
D) Toggle De-emphasis (currently 'disabled')
E) Toggle Echo Mode (currently 'disabled')
F) Flash (Toggle PTT and Tone output several times)
G) Toggle PL Filter (currently 'disabled')
H) Toggle PTT mode (currently 'ground')
I) Change Carrier From (currently 'usbinvert')
J) Change CTCSS From (currently 'usbinvert')
K) Change RX On Delay (currently '20')
L) Change TX Off Delay (currently '0')
P) Print Current Parameter Values
R) View Rx Audio Statistics
S) Swap Current USB device with another USB device
T) Toggle Transmit Test Tone/Keying (currently 'disabled')
V) View COS, CTCSS and PTT Status
W) Write (Save) Current Parameter Values - Exit Menu
The "PL Filter" is disabled because I'm using 1200 bd so post the processed audio and corresponding pin on the 6-pin mini-DIN connector should be what's in use. I suppose I could bring everything back to the shack and put a 'scope on the pin and confirm that the audio is appearing there. I know audio is heard from the radio's speaker.
I'm missing something and since this is the first time I've ever tried this remote node hack, I thought I'd ask all of you where I might try next.
Thank you for any assistance you might offer. Stay well and keep circling the sun; 'cause life is beautiful.
