Any reason Allstar could not be run over an installation of a Broadband-Hamnet network?
Just thinking of an infrastructure independent network with the functionality of Allstar.

Because the architecture of a mesh network is not able to deal with voip.
Brodband hamnet is attractive due to its simplicity, but it sucks to do any sort of services on as it’s basically digipeating at higher speeds. Once you’re a hop or two away it fails.
If you want to check out what hamwan has architected or my video on it from Dayton. A routed network is the only way to support anything needing QoS.

I was speaking more from a private point to point environment. We’re doing it from border to border in Colorado. I agree, the mesh network sounds cool till you factor in all the variables as you indicated. It may be possible with mesh but probably not worth the headache.

Broadband hamnet is a particular brand of mesh networking.
In general using a PtP link will work fine. Putting a router at each end and configuring some WoW will let others use your bandwidth while enforcing the priority of VoIP. Asterisk can tag DSCP on frames too.

That should be QoS, not WoW. Autocorrect on my phone got me.

This is an interesting topic. Almost didn’t read this thread because the subject line gives no indication of the topic. Please try to do better next time.

Well I was going to try HSMM-Pi and see how it works. By the looks of it they are going asterisk via HSMM-Pi.
QoS is your friend with Asterisk.

I am wondering if anyone is using an URI and an iCOM-207 ( Via the 6 pin connector on the back ) with Asterisk. If so,
can you please share the configuration files used with Asterisk.
Thanks in advance.
