Support for Debian 13 Trixie
AllStarLink is pleased to announce production support for the various AllStarLink applications and tools for Debian 13 Trixie on amd64/x86_64 and aarch64 platforms. All packages for AllStarLink have been promoted to the “main” package stream in the repository. Additionally, the ASL Manual has been updated to include information on Debian 13 Trixie, including os upgrade instructions.
The release of Trixie support includes a refactored “appliance” package set which supports creation of “appliances” for all types of installations – Raspberry Pis, PC/x86 systems, virtual machines, and cloud VPS. See the manual for more information.
Additionally, the ASL3 Pi Appliance image has been rebased to Debian 13 Trixie (image version 3.1.1). The last Bookworm image will be the forthcoming 3.0.21 and, in a few months, will be moved to the archive directory.
Expected Support Lifecycles
AllStarLink plans to support both Debian 12 Bookworm (currently “oldstable”) and Debian 13 Trixie (“stable”) in parallel until the release of Debian 14 Forky which is expected in Q3 of 2027. When Forky is released as “stable” and Trixie changes to “oldstable”, support for Bookworm will be dropped. There will be no ASL support for the “oldoldstable” branch of Debian. Support is defined as creation of new packages for updates as well as accepting/responding to bugs and issues.
