private nodes with dynamic IP

Hi all,

I am a new app_rpt user, I have a server with installed ACID, server have static IP. I have 3 assembled RTCM boards configured as voting repeater, it works fine.

One RTCM can work as simplex node too.

I was compiled app_rpt for Raspberry pi with SimpleUSB, it works, but I have question:

How I can connect 2 maybe 3 or more) PC based „slave“ nodes (endnodes with radio connected) to „master“ server, if only „master“ server have a static IP, and all endnodes use dynamic?

Two nodes in local network with static IP works fine

All my nodes a private system(s), not in Allstar network. Master server have static IP, and all endnodes (PC based and RTCMs have dynamic addresses)

Thanks!

Tell us more about that. You might be the first one to get this working that I know of. What did you do to get it going? If you could document what you did and possibly supply an image that would be great.

Just about to setup a single node beaglebone black
Got ubuntu 12 loaded now have the fun of getting arm to compile but there are raspbx (ast 11) compiles out there so should not be too bad.

Put the static IP address for the central node in the remote rpt.conf’s they all call themselves 127.0.0.1. Have them all initiate connections to the central node. I think that should work. I don’t think the central node needs the remote IP addresses if it isn’t calling to them.

I think.

I have to try that some time.

5 minutes later

OK, I tried this on my remote node. The “central node” has an incorrect IP address for the remote node. The remote node has the correct IP address for the central node in its rpt.conf file. I commanded the remote node to connect to the central node, worked fine. That scheme should work for you. Assume 1999 is central node and 1998 is remote. In central 1999 rpt.conf: 1998 = radio@192.168.xxx.yyy:4569/1998,NONE Then in remote 1998 rpt.conf: 1999 = radio@rea.lip.add.res:4569/1999,NONE

“rpt reload” on each end and it should work.

It was so simple, one problem only install kernel sources, without sources you cannot install DAHDI. I found how to install it on Fedora17.

http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=17322&p=345763

Use 8GB SD card class 10 or better, original Raspi class 4 card is slow.

Put to card Fedora remix fc17.r2, it use kernel version 3.2.27. After this install sources as discribed in
http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=17322&p=345763

Download and install last DAHDI
http://downloads.asterisk.org/pub/telephony/dahdi-linux/ and DAHDI tools.

Install all packages and development tools for Asterisk compiling. (from Asterisk README file, other shows Menuconfig, if any needed)

Download Asterisk from
http://svn.ohnosec.org/svn/projects/allstar/astsrc-1.4.23-pre/trunk/

Compile and install, it have no any problems. If compiler shows if any package not found, install package and rerun compilation

Replace default config files with downloaded from

http://svn.ohnosec.org/svn/projects/allstar/astsrc-1.4.23-pre/trunk/configs/

Configure you SimpleUSB. I use a CM108 SYBA card

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001MSS6CS/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And it works.

But Fedora is not a best system, Debian faster and Debian support Raspi CPU overlock to 1ghz, but I dont know, how to install kernel sources… If any help…

Seems to me the biggest problem with this would be getting COS from somewhere? No parallel port. Guess you’d have to get the modifiable CM108-based cards and wire for hardware COS? Or am I missing something important?

Mihhail,
I forgot to mention. Debian is a problem with the older Asterisk code which app_rpt requires. Since you used Fedora you overcame that problem. The overclocking is a hardware issue. Perhaps there is a Fedora/Pi forum where you can ask that question.

Subject: [App_rpt-users] private nodes with dynamic IP

Thanks!

But if i create „virtual“ local node 2198 in central server and in remote node 1998 create a startup macro *32198, I have automatic permanent connection between 1998 and 2198. And if I call from any other node
to 1998, I have connection established? (central server know, where is 1998, because it is connected to local node 2198).

Put the static IP address for the central node in the remote rpt.conf’s they all call themselves 127.0.0.1. Have them all initiate connections to the central node. I think
that should work. I don’t think the central node needs the remote IP addresses if it isn’t calling to them.

I think.

I have to try that some time.

5 minutes later

OK, I tried this on my remote node. The “central node” has an incorrect IP address for the remote node. The remote node has the correct IP address for the central node in
its rpt.conf file. I commanded the remote node to connect to the central node, worked fine. That scheme should work for you. Assume 1999 is central node and 1998 is remote. In central 1999 rpt.conf: 1998 =
radio@192.168.xxx.yyy:4569/1998,NONE Then in remote 1998 rpt.conf: 1999 =

Subject:
[App_rpt-users] private nodes with dynamic IP

Thanks!
