Just did an update on my node. After rebooting and bringing up my Allmon3 Dashboard, my Piper control panel disappeared. It did show an error in the update, but that disappear a second later and I missed what it said.
Sorry. I'm new to this so please help walk me through this.
This looks like something that tries to modify the code inside of Allmon3. That is not supported and package updates will blow it away without hesitation. I suppose you would have to reinstall it somehow? I’m not really familiar with it, but you’ll have to reinstall it every time you do a package upgrade.
Yes, you can just reinstall the program. It is idempotent. You can run it as many times as you want without issues. The only thing it changes in Allmon3 is to add the feature to the index.html file. The update likely overwrote the index.html file. Just re inistall and you will be good to go. I originally wrote this for Supermon only but many requested it for Allmon3. I sometimes wish that I hadn't.
Have you considered trying to engage with me on Allmon3 support? There's a few of these out there now where something like a definable URL in the configuration that opens other "dashboards" as an IFrame is something I've considered. But I don't use these tools and don't really have time to fiddle with all of them to see how they work. Someone who can describe exactly what's needed might accelerate something useful here.
So I love that we have the two developers in this conversation. This is going to be a long post, so if it doesn't interest you scroll on. If not and especially if your in the state of Georgia (USA) then you might want to stick around.
I mentioned earlier in one my post with the tag being the DEC (District Emergency Coordinator) for the NWS (National Weather Service) for the Peachtree City / Atlanta, GA office. Been heading this up with the hams and this office for over 30 years now. Our Georgia Skywarn Linked Repeater System has grown exponentially during that time. Which is a good thing since we cover more counties than any other office in the US. This is a RF linked repeater system that works well but does have it's limitations. One is that we do still have some holes that need to be filled. That is where AllStar came into the picture.
I run the hub repeater for the above link system mentioned above. It is on the south end of the metro Atlanta area here in Fayetteville. It has great coverage and has served us well. If you fly into Atlanta, you should be able to even get into this via a ht on 444.600+ 77hz.
I was introduced to AllStar by several people either already in the system or wanting to get into the link system. Once I looked at the features, what it entailed, I found out that I had all the needed items (minus the dongle for the rf link to the site... but did get that quickly... thanks Repeater Builders) and put it on the air. Yes as mentioned it is rf linked but as soon as we can get a viable hotspot at the repeater site that will change.
Now on to the need for Announcement Manager. I did mention announcing club announcements. The bigger picture is to use this during Skywarn activations. I loved seeing some of the other Skywarn addons that were out there. Unfortunately since this is the hub repeater system serving a very large area that would not be a viable solution. Especially during a statewide Skywarn activation (96 county warnings going out at various times over a linked system would not work). However, to be able to type in specific shorter messages and have them play back might be the ticket here. Of course there is a NCS so this whole thing would not be a stand alone position. But to put out an announcement saying that WX4PTC (the NWS ham station) would be activating at x time would be great. Yes. I can put tons of canned macros into my Arcom Repeater Controller to handle this as well. But not to give specifics on date, times, etc.
Very new to AllStar as mentioned. Any hand holding will be greatly appreciated from my end. If your in this NWS office coverage and your reading this, I would love and cherish the help. Again this is serving a much bigger picture is the reason for this long post.
Thanks to all the devs on this. You are really serving a much bigger audience than you realize and we really appreciate it.
