Hi my node is working just fine and stats etc recorded but I often see this line in my AST.log
Registration of ‘53393’ rejected: ‘Password incorrect’ from: ‘34.105.111.212’
Is there a problem with the machine on that IP?

Did it happen just that one time, or several times?
Confirm your password in iax.conf with the website?
I had the issue myself while I was doing other work to several machines.
While I did not trace it down, I did extend the length of my passwords in the asl portal and match them in my iax.conf
My nodes were older nodes and only had a length of 8 digits. Currently I think they are 16 digits, but I made mine a few more.
Now why that did seem to correct things I doubt it actually did. But verify your passwords and extend them if you like.
I also during that time updated the nodelist and rebooted, flushed out the dns in my router etc.
So I can’t say for sure what happened but it went away. Had it persisted, I would have dug deeper.
Can’t locate a problem that does not show itself. I was just busy with some other work on it so I thought it was my fault/sticky finger stuff.
So, for what it’s worth, that my story if it helps any.
Come back if you can tell us something more about it.
Node passwords are limited to 15 characters, so that might be the issue.
G4UJS - I’ve seen this problem occasionally with nodes and it seems to be either 1. an occasional fluke or 2. due to network issues on the node. Usually a reboot will fix it.
We get quite a few nodes that send us bad packets but still manage to register. Headscratcher!
Also for some reason on some keyboards…if you use the numeric keypad it sometimes doesn’t work, but the number keys above the letters never seem to fail in my experience. May want to try that…I know, weird, but, just a thought.
You will experience that in general if you are working in the linux environment like in putty.
There are ways to change the behavior. Google is your friend.
Hi all,
When it occurs I see multiple lines of it…but I still seem to register OK.
The password I use is the one that I was given at registration (early January), I never changed it!

Rob
Stepping straight in with a stupid question, where should I find AST.log because I don’t have one, and the follow on question is where is that logging enabled.
