Node radio fails to key COS

Hi,
I am building a node with DMK URIxB and UV5R.
I have done the radio mods, built the cable, and I have downloaded and tried AllStar, Hampvoip and the Peter Kendall img.
In all cases I can get everything working fine EXCEPT, COS fails to key when the radio Rx.
I’ve checked continuity of the cable from pin 2 of the radio chip to pin 8 of the URI and tried a couple of different options that people seem to use e.g. MIC_AC and LEFT_AC which makes no difference to the COS keying. I can also manually key COS from the node (option K of simpleUSBTune menu) and then the radio Rxs correctly and then Tx’s thru another node I have no problem.
Can anyone suggest a way to trouble shoot this issue? Or maybe someone has struck this before.
Alan

I had a similar issue when doing a UV5R, but it might be a different situation than yours.

It might depend on where you tapped the COS from the UV5R. I found something that was suitable but the voltage was a bit higher than the GPIOs would have liked, so I put a voltage divider on it. If you put too much voltage into the GPIO, it might have toasted it. I think they’re 3.3v tolerant.

What’s the voltage of the COS you tapped off of?

hmm, OK I’ll check - I thought my previous check of that it was >7V

This is where I tapped it - pin 2 of the chip

but it’s going to the URI (COR_DET) - not to the GPIO pins direct

you might have to pad the voltage down to 5.0 volts for high. make sure you have the DMI set for Positive COS and not negative.

OK - sorry - I know how to pad the voltage but what is the DMI? Is that set in the Simple-USB-Tune menu?

I’m using the same pin, I believe. But I’m taking the voltage down to around 3.3v with a voltage divider.

I was referring to your DMK URI. if you key another radio to activate the COS on the rec radio measure the voltage. you might have to set it for Positive key if you get voltage. if it goes to 0 volts then you want ground or negative keying for COS to trip.

ok thanks for that - I’ll try it
