I am using a RIM-Maxtrac RM module and 2 motorola mobiles. For the past 3 days it seems that sometime between 11pm and 9am or earlier the PI will crash. I can not log into it and none of the web pages for SuperMon, ALLmon, AllScan, etc etc can be reached.Today I went upstairs where the equipment is located and noticed that the PI's 2 LED's the RED and YELLOW one were solid, usually the Yellow one is blinking indicating data I believe. I keyed up and the RX unit is hearing me, the RM module is NOT sensing the signal, it's Green LED is on but that is it, the RED led on the RM TX module does not light up when the receiver is picking up a signal causing the PTT signal to go out.
I then power cycled the PI and about 1-2 minutes later I was able to key up like normal and everything functions as it should. Any ideas of where to look without starting again all over from scratch? Already did that once last week and it's not really that much fun! LOL

Here are a few questions and things to check.

  • Can you check to see if the asterisk process is crashing (look for /var/lib/asterisk/core)
  • Do you have a browser that is always watching the Cockpit web admin portal? If so, there's a known memory leak in that software and, over time, the memory usage will be too much.
  • Are you using any other active monitoring?
  • What other software packages do you have installed on the RPi?
  • Are you using cron to periodically run any jobs?

TY I believe it may be the memory case, I do have a browser (remotely) looking at the web admin portal and usually a terminal window open. I have closed those windows for the past 2 days and it does not seem to be locking up at the currently.

I do have allscan, supermon and DVswitch also installed
I also have a cron job to send out a voice ID every 30 minutes.

Thanks,
Rich
