I am pleased to announce that AllStarLink has rolled out our new cloud-based DNS node database service. AllStarLink v3 uses a DNS-first approach for node lookups with the long-term goal of completely ending the dependence on text files.
AllStarLink’s nodes.allstarlink.org service now leverages Amazon AWS Route 53, a highly available and scalable Domain Name System (DNS) web service. One major advantage of using Route 53 is its global presence, which ensures DNS lookups are faster by serving requests from network locations closer to users worldwide. Previously, the DNS service was primarily US-focused, resulting in slower query times for users farther from the United States. With Route 53, AllStarLink can now deliver consistently fast, local performance to users across the globe.
Your ongoing financial support for AllStarLink makes advancements like this possible. This update aligns with our commitment to a “cloud-first” strategy, emphasizing enhanced performance and resilience.
AllStarLink continues to rely on the efforts of volunteers. If you have skills in Linux, web technologies, PHP, Python, or even writing ability to update documentation we could use your help! Contact @N8EI , @WA3WCO , or @Todd-KM6RPT if you’re willing to volunteer.
Thanks for using AllStarLink!
