I have a Raspberry Pi-3B that I had built as a DMR hotspot. I have converted it for use as an Allstar node but need a transceiver hat. I’d rather do this than wire up a handi-talkie externally.
Need suggestions on which hat to buy.
Since no one has replied to this post after 6 days I’ll mention that personally I would avoid Pi Hat / SA818 modules as the audio quality is not particularly good, they have other limitations and aren’t any easier to set up and configure than other options. I make URIs that work with HTs - with zero mods, hacks or soldering required, provide easily 10dB higher Signal-to-Noise Ratio than SA818 modules, and are configured right on the front keypad and LCD. See https://allscan.info/ for details. I also make complete plug&play radio modules with a URI and integrated HT that are 100% USB powered and only $99… Or if you have a mobile radio such as a TM-V71A you can connect one of my URI110s and at $59 you’ll have a professional-grade full-duplex node that blows away a Pi Hat in every regard. Hope that helps. 73, NR9V
