Hi, the title says it all.
I followed the instructions here Source-Based Installation - AllStarLink Manual.
Asterisk runs fine but I can’t configure it for my node, as the asl-menu is missing.
The instructions does say " * Source install does not include any helpers, Allmon3, asl3-menu, asl3-nodelist, etc.", but not where I can get them from?!
Thanks
Update: I got around this by installing asl3 from the debian repo
Why would you do a source based install and then install the packages? That will result in a broken system for sure.

I wanted to include a change to chan_echolink, but when I did the original debian 12 package install method, then apt_rpt would not build, so I started again using the full manual method, since that involves building app_rpt and therefore chan_echolink.
Funny thing is, the change I want to make to chan_echolink (adding a welcome message) should be available soon anyway in the app_rpt project. apparently.
I Am sure there is a way to do it the package way, but I couldn’t work it out.
I definitely DID get echolink and ASL working together with the original package based build, so I might go back and do that, and wait for this change to chan_echolink be public.
Or someone can show me how to rebuild app_rpt after using the debian12 package install method please
It’s infeasible to mix the packages with custom code in most cases. The packages represent a specific point in time for the source vs. the live github repositories. The release of the next beta that had that pull request is not far off.
FYI, I just updated the ASL3 Manual : Source-Based Installation documentation.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.
Thanks, I am not sure what i was doing wrong but I could not get thee manual version working without asl-menu.
