The AllStarLink team is pleased to announce the release of ASL WebUI, a new browser-based management interface for AllStarLink nodes.
For years, setting up and maintaining a node has meant SSH, asl-menu, and hand-editing files in /etc/asterisk. ASL WebUI brings all of what asl-menu does (and a good deal more) into a clean web interface that uses familiar user interface concepts. You can manage your node from any computer, tablet, or phone.
What you can do with it
Node configuration
- Set up SimpleUSB, USBRadio, Hub/Pseudo, and VOTER/RTCM nodes
- Use ready-made settings for popular commercial node hardware
- Tune SimpleUSB and USBRadio audio in the browser, with live levels
- Manage access control, and switch between HTTP and IAX registration
- Program SA818 radio modules (the page appears when a module is detected)
Asterisk and Allmon3
- Start and restart Asterisk, and use a web-based Asterisk console
- Manage AMI passwords, kept in sync with Allmon3 automatically
- Add and remove Allmon3 nodes and users, and change its web settings
Diagnostics and maintenance
- Run the
asl-node-auth-checkconnectivity test and basic network checks - View and export the Asterisk log, and check installed packages and pending updates
- Back up and restore your node configuration
Security and networking
- Get a free Let's Encrypt certificate in a few clicks, so the browser stops showing security warnings (Cockpit uses it too)
- On the ASL3 Appliance, set up 44Net Connect (WireGuard), with full or split routing, firewall setup, and migration of a tunnel you already configured by hand
For advanced users
- Expert Mode lets you edit any file in
/etc/asteriskand/etc/allmon3directly - A built-in syntax checker catches mistakes in Asterisk configuration files before they take effect
- Hand-customized configurations can be normalized so that ASL WebUI can manage them
Full information is available in the Manual at ASL WebUI.
Getting started for ASL3 Appliance Users
If you are an ASL3 Appliance user, then simply upgrade to the latest software and it will be automatically installed. Currently the packages are in the beta repository. After a good "burn in" period the packages will move into the main repository for all nodes.
Then open https://<your-node>/ - for example https://node63001.local/ - and click on Node Admin. Your login is the same one you use to login to Cockpit or the Linux Console from SSH.
Getting Started for Non-Appliance Users
ASL WebUI runs on Debian 13 (trixie) and is available from the standard AllStarLink package repository. See ASL WebUI Install for more information.
Please note that you must change your package stream to the beta repository temporarily to install according to the directions for the next week or so until this moves to the main package stream.
If your node has a lot of hand-made customization, take a backup before you start.
