Installed Debian 12, ASL3, and Allmon3 on an old laptop, no radio. Now what?

I’m new to Linux. As a retired IT professional, I worked with Windows servers. I dislike running an image server because I like to know what’s going on so I am working on learning Linux and ASL. I probably should have tried one at a time. Nevertheless, my node runs, I connected to another node, I setup port forwarding on my firewalls, I don’t know what to do next. Is there anything I can connect to that would let me hear something from the laptop’s speaker or do I have to install a radio too?

My goal is to attach a radio so a friend can connect to a local repeater.

Thank you for any assistance.

ASL does not yet support built-in sound devices but there are many inexpensive interfaces that provide audio along with the necessary control lines for use with a radio or comms speaker and mic. I would recommend the How-To Guides at https://allscan.info as a start.

Thank you for the information. I will read those guides.
