New Allstar user here. Bought a pre-made Pi4 with a Shari hat. Hooked it up, everything was great for weeks. Installed the particulars for Allscan yesterday. Display screen worked but it wouldn't let me log in. Log in “invalid”. Overnight, I thought maybe it might be because the node needed to be reset after the Allscan installation. Re-powered up the node. Dead. Not even visible to my network. When I bought it, I made a copy of the sd card for a backup. Tried to boot with it… same.

So I'm here with a brick and virtually no knowledge of what to do. How do you fix a problem if you can't log into it? Flashing? Heard of it. Have no idea what it entails.

Anyone want to help a newb get his node back up?

Thanks much,

Doug KF8DRJ

Do it it steps. Start from the beginning. Eliminate the display screen. See if it will at least boot up and show the network/connect to the network. Not saying its the screen but if it worked before Allscan and the screen for weeks then I would start with that. If you have to reflash the SD with ASL3 then so be it. Also I am showing 67098 is up and running unless this is a second node you are trying to get going…again.

Update: Thank you for the reply. About 20 minutes after submitting that topic, I heard some tones and it came up. Since I'd never experienced a reset that long, I thought it was dead. It was a sigh of relief because I would have absolutely no idea how to flash the image, etc. Before I close this topic, can I ask your recommendation for a good tutorial for complete beginners to Allstar?

Thanks much!

https://www.youtube.com/@HamRadioCrusader Freddie has some amazing videos that helped me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeuj-yI8qrU This one will get you started with flashing ASL3 but check out several of his videos.
