Well, maybe it wasn’t such a dumb question after all seeing as no one has answered it yet. Here’s the deal. I modified a script which goes out to the ARRL server and FTPs down the ARRL Newsline mp3 file and converts it to wav format with sox. Then the wav file can be played with the app_rpt localplay command. Problem is that Newsline is usually about 30 minutes long and some times it’s handy to be able to stop it. 
So, anybody know how to stop playing a transmission started with localplay?
BTW, the script is available to anyone that wants it.
