how do I change default port from 4569 to 4568 on node?

Hi All, I know this has been asked before.
I have 2 node boxes and would like to put both on the same router/IP. I would like to change the def port on one of the nodes to 4568 so I can operate both boxes.

The first server has 4 nodes on it already and maxed out on the USB ports. So using second box to add an extra node.

I remember somebody saying that a change must be made in the node and the folks at Allstar have to set something in the server?

Please advise.

Thanks. Jon VA3RQ

that’s an easy one…

The first 2 lines of the iax.conf file in the [general] stanza generally
are:

bindport=4569
bindaddr=0.0.0.0

Just make the “bindport” whatever port you want it to be, and dont forget to
change the port number for the server in the Allstar portal, so that it will
get announced properly.

OK well I made the changes to IAX.conf and the portal server setting and works fine here. One thing I found though doing the bind thing is IAX_RPT wont connect to that node now. Not sure if its something to do with IAXRPT or do I have to change something else to get that working again?
Perhaps Steve W9SH can comment on that.

I am using a linksys WRT54GL router with DDWRT on it. Do you know it it will do PAT??
Would be nice to know.
Thanks,

Jon

Actually - there is one other approach besides bind port - advice that was

That way the configuration in the various computers stays the same.

Port Address Translation allows you to have different ports on the same node
on the WAN side and all the SAME port on the LAN side - but with different
node numbers.

I suppose, had I known better at the time, I would have gone for the "free"
solution. But the new router lets me run my local system at 1Gb, which is
nice, as I have 3 Linux boxes (so far) and 3-5 PCs on the network. It's kind
of addictive .....

You need to make a 'new' server for the new computer and you can
specify whatever port you want there at the portal config.
Nothing needs to be done by the system admins any more

Just change the Account's Host entry to the form:

ServerHostAddress:NonStdPortNum

e.g. w9sh.xelatec.com:4567 or 192.168.1.10:4567

Perfect! works like a champ. I'm glad it is something simple. Didnt know you could specify the port too.

Thanks!

Yep! IAX rpt been working fine for me. Just upgraded it too.
My op system here is win 2000. Works on my net book too on XP pro.
Friend of mine had problem with W7 64 though.
Something to do with sound drivers.
Real handy for the 20 some nodes I look after.

Oho! I see there is a new Iax_Rpt

I had tried it ~ a year ago along with a friend of mine and we could never
get it to work right. Volume sent from the PC was always too low - no matter
what. I posted something on the asterisk reflector but was directed over to
Xeletec. I posted a request on the Xeletec web site and it got zero replies
over the last 30 weeks.

Hopefully the new version fixes the problem !

I take it that it works FB for you?
