John,

Have you taken a look at the various notes found on the schematic?

An easy way to get your setup going is too use the simple usb menu on the Hamvoip main menu. Then select “V” that will show you several boxes for COS…CTCCSS as well as the PTT function. If you are not getting a CIS or CTCSS DECODE exit the V selection and look at the setting for COS R CTCSS and change the setting to a different selection not knowing what your radio is producing. For example COS has No, Inverted, non-inverted…etc. After changing one selection, select “V” and see if that made a difference when you key your input device. You can literally not know what any of your connections need to he,and using this method of change then View can get all your settings correct to make the node function. How this helps.

You need to make sure you are following the schematic that Scott posted last year. The link has moved a bit since then…

I believe on a GM340 you need COS inverted, like your SimpleUSB output claims you do.

You also need to make sure the pins on the radio side are configured correctly with the GM programming software.

Aside from …possibly not having the 16-pit connector plugged in correctly (upside down?) … there’s really not much else one should have to do to get ASL talking to the radio using the RIM.

Someone else please correct me if I’m mistaken there.

Hope this helps
