Garbled audio from node to ASL, but fine the other way

Hi all, I wonder if someone can help me please

I have setup a private radio link. The audio going into ASL is slightly garbled:

HT → GM340 (Pi3b+) → ASL is garbled.

ASL → GM340 (Pi3b+) → HT audio is good

In simple USB settings, if I select “echo”, the audio I hear back is also clear.

All other settings I am using in simple USB are “known good” settings from another ham with identical radio and sound fob.

Any ideas where I should start looking?

This first begs the question regardless of settings anyone else is using.
What type of audio is the source ?
Line level, speaker audio, discriminator audio ?

Thanks for the reply Mark.

I never did find out what caused the issue, but I restarted with a fresh image and tidied a few other things up and it’s gone away.

Anyway, all fixed now :grimacing:
