Hi all, been thinking of trying to build a full duplex node and have been reading the excellent howto on allscan.info
What’s not clear to me is the examples shown use two HTs, one for RX and one for TX. This would need a full duplex HT for it to work, correct?
I don’t think the HT I plan to use is full duplex (Yaesu FT-60)
If this is correct the idea came to mind why not set the node up with a speaker instead of one of the HTs and split the audio between the speaker and the one HT
What I’m thinking is I would have full duplex when near the node and simplex if I’m out walking or doing things outside.
One radio RX and one radio TX
Each is simplex or don’t even need the other RX/TX . The system is just config’d to tx when a rx is herd.
The system setup is full duplex, but with 2 radios, each only simplex.
Think on it a while. You will get it.
If you want to consider using a mobile radio a pair of say Motorola CDM1250 or equivalent radios one for tx the other for rx will work. Just put the tx side on low power 1-2 watts and feed it into a dummy load. Program it in A* like it was a repeater, which of course in the configuration it is.
