This is incorrect and possibly dangerous advice. The firewall with the ASL3 Pi Appliance comes preconfigured to work just fine with Echolink and many people are doing so. Turning off a firewall in 2024 is a very bad idea.
If your node never moves and is on a completely trusted network, then theoretically a firewall is not needed. However in the above reply you just randomly advocated that someone turn off their firewall without knowing any details of their setup, claiming that it would fix a problem with Echolink. The firewall on the Pi appliance has been very well tested and works just fine with Echolink in a variety of situations. It is extremely unlikely that is in any way the problem. Even if it was, the correct thing to do is attempt to fix it not to disable it
I think you assumed on my post about the firewall. I was not saying it would fix Echolink, rather its not needed. I tend to not explain. Everytime I have an issue, like with my allmon3 hub, I find the firewall on. Chased a DVSwitch issue and found it was the firewall on again. I put a sticky note on my laptop. It says do not look for issue, check firewall. It was late last nite, storms comming in, so I loaded SkywarnPlus. I ugraded first. When I got done, the node I upgraded and installed SkywarnPlus on, allmon3 showed no connects. But I was connect. Turn firewall off and everything was back working. I am using 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0 so I assume that was it with firewall. It causes me issues all the time. Yes all my nodes are fixed and behind my router firewall. I have things setup so system users can see Allmon3, DVSwitch dasboard and access HTML client to connect digital platforms into our system. It take 15 mintues to build an ALS3 node and this is ham radio. I never had to redo a node, but good with having too. I guess I could backup the nodes, but have not every done that. Thanks for the responce!
