Echolink Audio Overdriven?

Allstar audio is perfect. No problems at all. However Echolink connections are having a bit of an intelligibility issue on both transmit and receive. The best way I know how to describe it is it reminds me of an AGC circuit being overdriven. There's a constant tick, tick, tick sound in the background of the transmitted and received audio. No amount of gain adjustment will remove it so it seems to be somewhere the "preamp" stage, if you will.

erxgain=2 ; Echolink tx gain adj Note: Gain is in db-volts (20logVI/VO)

I will note that just because you can adjust asl volumes correct to the ear on your system, does not make the levels correct. You could have asl tx/rx levels to high/low.

When it is not correct, it's like wack-a-mole trying to adjust it ear method.

And keep in mind that EchoLink audio is horrible at best.

After reading through another thread this is possibly an issue that is affecting SA818 based transceivers.

Do you have the highpass and lowpass filters enabled if you're using an SA818? Some online directions say not to enable them which is unhelpful at best...

I spent all afternoon trying different combinations of filters, on both the Shari and in USBradio, and nothing takes it completely out. For further troubleshooting purposes will the Hamvoip Echolink channel driver work with ASL3? As another person stated, in another thread, that one worked normally. Just trying to narrow things down.
