I have been running a simplex node for several years now - Wyse Dell 3040 - CM108 HB Interface - GE Phoenix Radio - Discriminator input - Direct Mod to the transmitter - Ptt and GND from the CM108 using an open collector transistor. Receiver Unsquelch (COS) and CTCSS Decode and Encode are handled by DSP. Node # 577817 - http://44.30.10.13/allscan/
After the update everyone I talked to reported an echo of my last few words during the hang time. USB Radio Interface - Parrot was enabled by default after the update - I did set to 0 and also I usually connect to 48752 and for a change tried 559822 - still echoes.
Any suggestions ?

Can you be more specific about "echo", specifically where that's being heard? Are you saying that your transmission on remote nodes over a link are hearing part of your transmission twice? Or the audio quality is distorted?
When I use my talkie on 441.375 simple tone 88.5 into my simplex node (same freq/tone) connected via internet to other hubs (48752 or 559822) folks on the other end are hearing the last few words of my transmission as an echo. I do not hear this - I am getting reports from folks on the far end. I do not hear any echo on the node end. I am hoping to connect to another node / repeater who can give a accurate report. Folks report hearing the last word or two, two time. I donβt know about distortion or so. Folks on the receiving end only report hearing the last word or so, two times. de nu5d
Listening to myself this morning - node 577817 connected to hub 559822 and listening on a local repeater - when I send to my node (577817) thru my talkie - and say my call sign - nu5d, I hear myself (on one of the linked repeaters ((node 559829 / 146.69)) - not the node itself, of course) say nu5d, 5d - perfectly clear - no distortion - same loudness - seems just the last second or so of my transmission is broadcast a 2nd time - no gap or delay in between. I can easily connect to a node local to you if you would like to hear for yourself. de nu5d
Thanks to some help - when I connect the node / hot spot to a dummy load the echo goes away - points to something off the air causing the echo... I changed the CTCSS on the node - no joy - still a puzzle -
txctcssdefault = 94.8 ; default TX CTCSS frequency, any frequency permitted
rxctcssfreqs = 94.8 ; RX CTCSS frequencies list in floating point. must be in table
txctcssfreqs = 0000 ; TX CTCSS frequencies list. any frequency permitted. will follow RX CTCSS frequency
rxctcssoverride = no ; Set to yes to start out in carrier squelch mode
Solved - No Problem with Software. There a 4 backyard no-coordination required repeater pairs with the TX VHF FM Society I moved from 441.300 to 441.375 to get away from a DMR repeater that was making noise on the tail of my node. Only to find a backyard repeater 30 miles to the East. Problem found - Changing tones did not fix the noise in the tail - but at least there is a cause and effect. Thank you all and 73, Steve NU5D
