Double Squelch Crash and/or Repeated Last Word

I have set up several Motorola Quantars with ASL as the repeater controller and simpleusb. All but this one work flawlessly.

This one 2m repeater has a double squelch crash or repeated last word on some users, some of the time. It is very strange. Just to be clear this is not on a link connection; this is with local users.

I suspect a user with a non-commercial radio is causing the relay in the Quantar to bounce when the user unkeys creating the double crash.

I have no idea what occasionally causes the last work in the transmission to be repeated. I suspect this and the double squelch crash to be related.

Is there a debounce delay for the COR in simpleusb.conf?

is it possible there are two RF links into the repeater from the same ASL node# or the same ASL Hub? (just guessing one way to get two of the same with delay)

The ASL node is directly connected to the Quantar serving as the Repeater Controller, ASL node, and Echolink node. There are no links active when this is observed. This is observed on local users on the repeater.

No, there is not. Have you considered a Masters Communication SC-75?

Roger, any help you can provide for connecting my ASL to my Quantar. I have the Node running, but the interface is giving me grief. Could you share your connection details?

John,

There are too many details to put in this thread. I can send direct. Basically I'm using the Quantar 50 pin connector with a cable to a Masters Communications RA-42M.

Are you running P25+analog mode or just analog?

EDIT: Just talked to one of the local Quantar guys, and now we're both scratching our heads. We know from your checks it's not the known duplex setting "effect", and he hadn't heard anything like it otherwise even with the Quantar squelch misconfigured or broke.

I've heard that effect on MMDVM hotspots but never on a Quantar; are you using wildcards in your codeplug?

Chuck,

I have more than a dozen Quantars running mixed mode with ASL analog controllers. Only this one Quantar exhibits this problem. We upgraded the FW but that did not help either.

This is the only 2m Quantar, the others are UHF or 900. This is why I suspect user radios since we hear the squelch crash with the problem.

And yes, we are using the Quantar Wildcard Tables; how else would you do an external controller?

In our group, many are running Quantars but I'm the only one who uses them for just P25 (analog side local-only), while everyone else has them linked mixed-mode with 1 cable out the front/1 out the back. I have several other analog things already running ASL, so in my case linked analog on the Q would be redundant. My point being, I'm "wildcard-aware" but not "wildcard-educated"... A long way of saying, if one wanted to create an audio anomaly, I bet the wildcards could do it...

Gotcha. So, you know the duplexer's tuned good and giving you sufficient T-R isolation? Is the 2m site located in a high IM environment?

Just thinking off-the-wall here.

EDIT: Neither is too likely if you're getting double words as well as double tails.

I had a similar problem, not quantar related. Occasionally we would have an echo of our audio. Turned out we had two UHF repeaters on the tower, 600 Khz apart. They would mix with our 2m output, and put our output signal back on our input. Only happend when all three repeaters were active.
