I am new to ASL3 and have a Clearnode. The node has a green blinking LED that Clearnode support tells me is controlled by the ASL3 code. I am assuming that it is the heartbeat LED. Is there a way to turn it off? I am a full time RVer and there aren’t many places to put the node and having that LED blinking continuously is a bit annoying
ASL3 itself does not have a heartbeat LED at all. Are you talking about the Raspberry Pi status light or something on the Clearnode hat? If it's the item on the motherboard, that can only be disabled by a setting a special set of kernel parameters at boot. Since Clearnode has its own software stack, I'm not sure how to tell you to set it so that it's survives across software updates.
It's on the hat, and very bright, and very green It is on solid at boot and then flashes about every second. I contacted Clearnode support and their response was...
It's controlled by the Asterisk AllStar software and they don't provide any user control over it.
I am hoping that there is a setting somewhere that can be disabled, but if not I may try a touch of black sharpie
Talked to the Clearnode people. This is a LED driven by the CM1xx chip. None of us are actually controlling it so it's default is "on". I'd suggest some tape or a marker. Not sure it's worth the effort to build something to control it into the channel drivers (that we're going to be rewriting anyway).
Thanks for looking into it! Their support hasn't responded yet. Now we know
The LED is a tiny surface mount component. I can't believe how bright it is . I'll figure something out to darken it or block it Some users have inserted a piece of paper or index card, but I would worry about restricting heat flow.
