I am very disappointed with DIAL. quite frank won't install, get a red screen "no root filesystem" error when it attempts install. no way at all to get into a manual set up it appears. AND on the same CD I can install debian jessie vanilla no problem, why? I can chose the settings.
I use a HP server with dual 3.0ghz processors and 5GB ram.
I guess since I have a sever instead of some raspi im just boned eh? if I seem mad its cause I am, I was not happy in wasting 5 hours today plus fuel costs to the repeater site fighting this.
No offense, but making it 100% automatic creates problems and is a horrible idea IMO
Interesting I have never had this happen with any of my installations so far 6 machines fully running and functional…
First off was their internet connected to the machine? Dial is a network installation setup I wish they had a full setup version that didn’t require internet but so far havent seen one…
Another issue i ran into is the username and password this is common one
username: root
password: debian
The way i read this it almost sounds like it was unable to download the packages from the internet I just did an install test with no internet connection and i got a similar result might double check your internet settings and try again… Typically I generally swap hard drives when i do an install like this… This allows me to have about 5 minutes of down time instead of 5 hrs or more…

it don't even get to the install from network part. it hangs at the format drive part.. I use a HP server (2x 73GB SCSI drives) IF it was more like the debian installer where I can manually pick my settings it would install fine. but this full auto no user input install won't work.

Feel free to install Debian and then you should be able to ssh into the server and do a manual install. That should save on gas!

In 1988, America was strong. We had Ronald Reagan, Steve Jobs, Johnny Cash, and Bob Hope. Today, we have Obama, no Jobs, no Cash, and no Hope.
Obvious but necessary question - did you use the correct install image? I only mention this because you reference the Raspberry Pi.
