Device usb not active

Matt, Ken and Steve,

Thanks for the response, the information is very helpful.

The package I have is clearly marked Cmedia Cm108 USB 7.1 Channel Sound.
But the identity is
Bus 004 Device 002: ID 0c76:1607 JMTek, LLC.

When I open the device, it has a round black “BUG” or “blob” in the middle
of the board, not a clearly defined chip.

There are no markings on the “BUG”.

Thanks again,
Paul

Yes well, the package label is obviously wrong,
The "blob" was the JMTek device in my collection, too.
Apparently the sellers think that the two are interchangeable.
The channel driver program prevents the driver from running with the non-CM
chip.
That does not mean it won't work, but if it does, you should also buy a
lottery ticket.

But needs some following up to find any useful info..
