Decommissioning of AllStart Legacy Server – May 30, 2020

Seal, the original AllStarLink server, was set up by Jim Dixon and others to create the AllStarLink Network. This single server was the heart of the AllStar from the beginning. Since Jim’s passing AllStarLink, Inc. has expanded and upgraded AllStar servers to support the growing user base.

Seal has outlived its usefulness. We will start the process of decommission Seal to identify any unknown services. We expect the phone portal to be off line during the test period. If you notice anything else that is not working we ask you to let us know here on community or by email. We are confident your nodes will continue operate normally doing the test. The test is scheduled to begin on the morning of May 30, 2020.

Hi All,

The decommissioning process of the original allstar server has commenced. Please let us know if any unusual symtoms appear so we can run them down…

Tim,
Just curious, since I see another thread has someone asking about Phone Portal’s status

When the test period is “over with”, is the phone portal expected to come back online as it was before, or is that function to be considered deprecated going forward?

Thanks
Byron

Byron,

The test is complete. No failure reports were received other than one or two misconfigured nodes which have been fixed by the owners. The server has been powered off as all services other than the phone portal continued to function during the test.

The phone portal is being restored on another server. Maybe one of the guys working on the phone portal will chime in here with a status report.
