When installing to a cloud server using Debian appliance install (not using the Raspberry Pi imager) where or how are you supposed to set the web admin portal login credentials for the cockpit?
When you installed the OS you enabled certain [Linux] logins. Those are the logins (and any other logins that you added) that can be used at the Cockpit login.
The exception is the "root" login that, by default, is blocked in the /etc/cockpit/disallowed-users file.
Very good, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I have now added a user account in the cloud machine and the credentials allow me to login to the Cockpit.
