Since it has been ten years since I have made any, what brand USB Sound phobs is everyone using these days. I know I can purchase a pre made interface but I can easily modify the usb devices.
Have a look at this line. RA Series Radio Adapter Index Page
I’ve tested the RA42M. I like it.
The RA-25 works excellently as well as long as you don’t need any of the trim pots to make up for the radio hardware attached. I’ve used RA-25s with both SA818 chips as well as full-blown Kenwood repeaters with no problems.
Sorry I wasn’t clear. I meant what CM 108 USB phob are people ordering all Amazon.
I.'ve been using this one a syba, you need to crack the case to get inside though

Hot air to remove the jacks - microscope @ #30 wire / E6000 Glue once the #30s are tacked - the rest is a 2N2222/5.6K for PTT and a couple of swamping resistors to taste on the audio levels…
I let the DSP on ASL take care of COR / PL Decode, etc - but you can add a 2nd Tranistor for COR/CTCSS Det if you want the extra trouble (and a 2nd #30 to pin 48 for COR IN)… de nu5d
BTW - a neat testing tool - I use UZ7HO’s Sound Modem 114 to get a waterfall view and PTT (with mark and space packet tones - but OK for quick go / no go test) UZ7HO Personal page - Packet-Radio - English version
Hello, I have a Motorola DM-3601. Is there a way to interface it with a CM108?
All MotoTRBO radios should be compatible. If memory serves, that’s the equivelant of the NA market XPR4550.
I was looking for a CM108 mod that works well with my Motorola DM3601 radio. Can you recommend one?
Do you think this mod for the Motorola GM340 would also work for my radio?
Let me know.
The fob should work on any radio; you just have to match it to the same signals on the radio. Find PTT, COS, TX audio, RX audio and ground (might involve programming accessory port pins in the CPS).
As someone mentioned that is the same radio as the North American XPR series. I build a cable to go from our General Purpose RIM_Lite to the XPR series. Both the interface and cable can be found on this product page:
I tried searching the page you gave me, but I couldn't find the right one for my radio (Motorola DM-3601). Please note that my radio has a 26-pin connector.
Already said in a previous post: XPR4550. Applies to ALL XPR radios. They're identical radios with the exception of the sticker on the front and a couple of flipped bits in the codeplug for the region.
As KK6RQ mentioned, your radio is equivalent to the USA XPR series. You would need to order both a cable to go from the XPR series to my RIM_Lite, and also the RIM_Lite itself. Both items can be ordered from the page I provided. Feel free to e-mail me direct if you’d like. [My callsign]@repeater-builder.com
