I have a node with allstarlink and some friends of mine have dvswitch mobile, so I would like to know if I can add users, thanks so much in advance
Yes. You could add a separate context (ie. stanza) for each person in iax.conf, each with different username/passwords but it's so much easier to just have them use web transceiver mode.
Hello buddy thanks so much for your answer, when you talk about web transceiver it is the same than use dvswitch mobile because my friends only use the mobile, I would like if you can explain me more because I am begining with allstar, I already have the server and the node, I stay in DMR too TG 7162 BM
They'd need to setup an IAX account in the app; as to the how-to on that, it's in the DVSwitch documentation, over on the DVSwitch groups.io (don't remember specifically off the top of my head).
Otherwise, the phone user needs to have an account on our webportal. The part where the app "creates a token" is where you actually use your allstarlink website login/pw. The only other requirement is that the node(s) they connect to each have Web Tranceiver access enabled in the portal (so YOU need to make sure it's enabled in your node settings in the Portal).
I'm betting somebody else can explain this better than me...
Robert thanks my friend, I know how to configure dvswitch for using iax2 protocol, just yesterday I did it in mobile, you told me how to begin with that, two heads think better than only one ..... lol, OA3DUU & OA4DEX already signed up in the site
Hi! I just want to add that you can even use one user and password in multiple devices. Everyone can add their own callsign in the DVSwitch app account section. Just share the password and you will be good to go.
You could also copy whole [iaxclient] section and paste below and then change iaxclient to [UserNameOfYourChoice] and password as per requirement for other users if you wish to have different usernames.
The DVSwitch Mobile app (at least last time I had a chance to use it) has 3 ways of connecting to AllStar nodes:
-
IAX client mode. This is the way most people would use the app to connect to their node. Requires setting up an IAX login/passowrd in iax.conf for the node you want to connect to. This method is most useful for you to connect to your own node, or to a local node, where you're able to get the sysop to create an IAX account for you.
-
Web Transceiver mode. In this mode, DVSwitch Mobile uses the Web Transceiver functionality of the AllStar platform to connect to any node that has Web Transceiver enabled (most of mine do, for the record).
-
Node mode. In this mode, DVSwitch Mobile is registered on the AllStar network with its own node number, and can connect to any other node on the network.
For most people, IAX client mode or web transceiver mode are the easiest, depending on where you want to connect. For the OP,enabling WT mode on their AllStar node (done in the portal) and having their users use WT mode in the app would be the easiest, though configuring an accoint (stanza) for each user in iax.conf would give more precise control over who can connect, with more administrative overhead for the node owner.
I've tried all 3 modes in the app myself, they have pros and cons, but all work well.
The downside is it's harder to know who's connected (you'd have to listen for IDs and have no log), but that would work. I generally use the user's callsign for the name of the stanza (login) for each user, but my number of users is very small - generally only myself, maybe one other occasionally.
DVSwitch Mobile has Web transceiver mode built into it. Press the More button, then select Allstar and turn on web transceive mode. Just make sure to turn it off when you are done.
Hello Tony, all the posts are very interesting and thanks so much for them, so I would like to know if I can bridge my radio and the hotspot with my als server???
