Best practice for MANs/WANs

I’ve begun to setup a MAN/WAN (yes computer terms for Metropolitan/Wide area network) centered at the moment around my node.

So far I’ve pointed an Echolink node to mine, a second node (simplex repeater) and a 3rd personal node.

The second node also has an Echolink node connected to it. This node has a permanent connection to my node.

We are communicating with other Repeaters (duplex) w/ALLSTAR for temporary (scheduled) or permanent connections.

Everything works, but here’s the best practice questions.

  1. I haven’t tried this, but I am assuming ONLY one set of links between node A and node B is possible at a time.
  2. Currently, my node and the second node produce station ID’s. Do we turn them off, limit them and if so, how?
  3. Same question but modify for SkywarnPlus tail messages.

Thank you for the collective insight.

The number of connections is limited only by your whitelist / blacklist and there is a physical setting capping the number of connections if you choose to use it. And the bandwidth capacity of your server.

Eah node generates it’s own ID herd only on that node. It is not propagated to connected asl nodes.
