rpt_extnodes -> /tmp/rpt_extnodes appears as a link and I get tail: cannot open '/tmp/rpt_extnodes' for reading: No such file or directory
Also I'll ask 29103 to check his whitelist. Where would I look and check about accepting inbound connects?

Are you getting the nodes list? Take a look
for /var/lib/asterisk/rpt_extnodes. At the bottom of the file there should
be a current timestamp.
For example:
tail /var/lib/asterisk/rpt_extnodes
;Generated 3251 records in 0.063 seconds.
;Served in 0.015 seconds.
;Served from cache: Yes

That would explain why you can’t open the rpt_extnodes file in the proper directory as Tim outlined in his previous email.
It makes it really hard for the support team to provided support when the software being used has differences from the standard and we don’t know what the difference are.

Both inbound and outbound connections need rpt_extnodes to work.
We don’t put a link to the tmp directory for rpt_extnodes in our distro. I suspect, as Marshal mentioned, you’re running the hamvoip distro. You’ll need to contact them if you haven’t already for support.
if you do not have the /var/lib/asterisk/rpt_extnodes file or in you case the ‘linked’ /tmp/rpt_extnodes or /tmp/rpt_extnodes-temp files the you would not be able to call another node. check your system ( ps aux|grep rc.updatenodelist ) to ensure the updatenodelist service you may need to restart the process
