Audio Level Drops in Repeater Mode vs SimpleUSB

RPI 3b and ASL3 install to our local repeater via a DMK-URI… If I set the node on “Repeater” mode the audio level cannot be adjusted high enough to make it workable. If I set the node to SimplexUSB audio is more than acceptable and can be adjusted appropriately.

What am I missing?

The DMK URIs can have a hard time driving some systems in my experience. Where I use DMK URIs, I always use the 6dB gain amp on the board.

Does that tap require a 12vDC source to make functional?

Yes, it does. I usually piggy-back it off the repeater power supply.

Reading this again, though, maybe you need to put the gain on the receive audio? If it sounds fine as a simplex mode and supposedly in that case you’re hearing audio from the network, then that means your transmit audio is fine and the receive audio that is low When you’re in a duplex mode .

One might only need to compare the level of Allison to rx audio on the output to have some idea that the rx audio is low or high. (ear method or scope the level)

But is this discriminator audio at the receiver ?
deemphasis = yes
