Also just remembered - Wyse Dell / Dell has a really neat imaging tool for the 3040 - compresses and saves your working system to an image for restoration / duplication to other like 3040’s… How to Download the Dell Wyse USB Imaging Tool | Dell US - I have 4, 128 gb emmc’s on the way - about $16 a pop - due Tuesday… San Disk - SDINBDA4-128G
I have a problem with the USB imaging tool. It won’t detect the USB drive when using windows 10 or 11. I tried it on a windows 7 running live on a separate usb drive and same thing, it won’t let me select the target USB drive to use.
I was able to configure a USB drive to push ThinOS, however, same problem occured.
I think I did format my debian 10 OS installer on my flash drive with MBR format which probably caused this problem. Hopefully anyone can help resolving this mistake.
Wyse Dell 3040 Image fail
Try to edit mask details in the xml file that contain the commands…
edit the commandsxml.xml (found in the image-folder on the USB-stick).
There is a ‘FFFFFFFF’ (mask) section and when you replace this with ‘00000000’ it should work.
Thanks for the reply. I will try this one and will give feedback.
It did not work for me. I already replaced all the mask section values, still can see the full 8GB emmc.
