ASL 3.0 ISO - I cannot find it

List members,

Can someone please tell me where I can find the ASL 3.0 ISO that I can boot and install from?

Also, is there a discord channel for ASL??

Thanks!

There is no ISO for ASL3. You add repositories and install it on existing Debian Bookworm, as per the instructions.
So, basically, do a normal Bookworm install, then follow these instructions to add the ASL3 packages.

KE4DYI,

Is that because one has just not been generated as yet and is forthcoming soon, or is this just the new way to install it from now going forward?

If one installs from the repositories, does that give them a basically running system only needing to change perhaps their call sign in the configuration files or is there more to do in terms of set up than that?

Thanks for your time responding.

Stuart

For the Raspberry Pi, we do have an image you will download but you MUST use the Raspberry Pi Imager to customize it for your installation.

For other installs (e.g. x86_64/amd64) you just need to install the ASL3 packages.

Please read the ASL3 User Guide.

Yes, installing the ASL3 packages will give you running system that just needs you to configure your nodes. Again, check out the ASL3 User Guide.

There will eventually be a full installer for x86_64 installs but it’s a lower priority item since doing a Debian 12 install and adding the repos is pretty straightforward.

Okay, I do apologize for my lack of clarity. I was speaking of x86_64/amd64 as my RPi devices are currently serving as hot-spots for D-Star and x86 is a better way for me to run AllStar since it can be migrated from one server running VMs to another.

I was going to print out the entire manual but I could not find a PDF version of the manual. Is there one that exists so I can print it and sit and read it offline?

Okay. It is just easier for me to automate the install (with Ansible in my case) if I have an ISO to do it with but using the repositories is also just as workable.

If and when an ISO comes out I will use it.

Thanks for all your thoughts.

I understand entirely.
I did not see anywhere the status of such an ISO or that. It might make sense to place somewhere prominent the very thoughts you expressed to me about an x86_64/amd64 ISO.
