I have a system with a quad port radio card and 2 tdm400 cards. do I really need usbradio.conf or chan_usbradio.so since I have none of the usb radio fobs attached?

Eric,
No. You can noload the chan_usbradio.so module in modules.conf. This is
what I do in Limey Linux for pciradio installations.
